I started Jersey Junkers® in 2012 with a truck and a phone number. Junk removal is not a glamorous business. It is a business where you quote a price, do the work, and get paid — and where the person hiring you can tell within about ten seconds whether you're going to be straight with them.
Fifteen years of that taught me most of what I know about money: what it costs to run something, how fast good months turn into bad ones, and how much of financial stress is really just not having a plan written down anywhere.
I didn't go to college. I have a diploma from Middletown High School South and no formal education after it. What I have instead is a business I built from nothing, the licensing the State of New Jersey requires to give investment advice, and a legal duty to put your interests ahead of my own.
I'm still the CEO of Jersey Junkers® and still run it day to day. It takes real time and provides a substantial part of my income, which is disclosed in Form ADV Part 2B because you have a right to know it. It has nothing to do with your portfolio and creates no conflict with advisory clients — but you shouldn't have to dig through a filing to find out your adviser has another business. So: I do.
Fiduciary duty
What that
word means.
As a registered investment adviser, Capital B owes clients a fiduciary duty. In practice that means the advice has to be in your interest, not the firm's, and that conflicts of interest have to be disclosed rather than buried.
Some of what follows from that:
- The firm is fee-only. It accepts no commissions, trails, markups, or sales-based compensation, and it is not a broker-dealer.
- It receives no soft-dollar research, no referral payments, and no prizes or awards from anyone who isn't a client.
- It does not have custody of your assets. They sit at an independent qualified custodian in your name.
- Advice is non-discretionary unless you grant discretion in writing, and you can revoke that in writing at any time.
- Client transactions take priority over the adviser's personal transactions under the firm's Code of Ethics, which you can request a copy of at any time.
Approach
How the
portfolios
get built.
Nothing exotic, on purpose. The firm uses asset allocation, risk profiling, and long-term strategies designed around your objectives, circumstances, and tolerance for loss. It primarily recommends publicly traded securities: mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, and individual securities.
The firm does not primarily recommend investments involving significant or unusual risks. It does not trade on forecasts of where the market is heading next quarter, and it will not tell you it can.
Clients may impose reasonable restrictions on the securities or types of securities held. Those get written down and honored.

Tell me what you've got and what you're trying to do with it. If Capital B isn't the right fit, I'll say so on the call.
